There’s an ongoing battle for ownership of the mega-million dollar newspaper, Newsday. The company launched by Daniel Chookolingo in 1993, is getting no media publicity because two years after its launch, the daily immediately became the fastest selling newspaper in Trinidad and Tobago outstripping the then 30-year old Trinidad Express and the mighty Guardian which was then over 75 years old. Both newspaper and their vast billion dollar media outfits have remained silent since the case was filed in the High Court in 2014.While Newsday’s up-to-date value remains shrouded, there was a valuation done a decade ago which put its worth at over $200 million dollars. Sources close to Mr Chookolingo says this is a bogus value which was given by the Steve Castagne controlled board to buy out minority shareholders to gain full control of his company.
Mission Statement
This site is dedicated to the protection of the constitution and laws, morals and integrity of the State of Trinidad and Tobago. It is not aligned to any political party but in fact can be said to be dedicated against the status quo and specifically the present corrupt political system as it exists in T&T, where whichever party forms the government, it does so to the detriment of the masses that put them in office … and to the crooked and illicit benefit of the One Percent / oligarchs as they are commonly called or nowadays.
It is now known by all and sundry that the laws that the common citizen are compelled to abide by are not for the One Percent. These laws are engineered or otherwise corruptly manipulated by the One Percent to keep the lesser mortals in check and under manners by the State which they control...hence the name given to them, the oligarchs.
This site in dedicated to exposing all inequalities and oppression of the ‘Small Man’ and is dedicated to be the grand equalizer, exposing the mainly white collar criminals who dedicate their lives to reminding the lesser mortals of our place in the society; something like DOMA and their head, Gregory Aboud who doesn’t know how to keep his sick mouth shut. Nonetheless, this site is committed to a free and fair media to expose the double standards of T&T, a State that has fashioned itself to replace the disgraced Apartheid system. We commit ourselves to be the real defender of the marginalized and voiceless sector.
More specifically, we feel compelled to make general statements that may somewhat seem to broad brush people but that is not the intention. But there is no doubt that certain sectors are indeed beyond fixing:

The political Leaders / Oligarchs: This sector believes raiding the treasury is their right. The latest example is the massive and unexplained billions spent on what they call Covid-19 expenditure. Famously, the method of appointing members of all State bodies is another point of contention for many when the government of the day, through the use their constitutional authority and an outdated Constitution to appoint judges, the unending commissions of enquiry, State Boards, which is now estimated to cost taxpayers several billion dollars annually. It’s worth noting here that it is a truism that the main culprit in corruption is the briber not the bribee, but when you are caught focus is on the bribee. The briber is invariably the politician / oligarch.
The Judges and Legal System: This disgusting sector was only made worse with the appointment of current CJ Archie according to a poll. The way the judiciary is run is deplorable and the man in the street no longer has confidence that justice can be meted out which, as we all know, is supposed to be independent of the politics. But given that the politicians appoint the JLSC, the Judges and the AG it appears that there is no hope. Most people with a case in court feel that even the oligarchs themselves have a hand in the outcome, once it suits them. Recently, the P.M. refused to call down an independent inquiry on the C.J. after credible evidence from a ‘friend’ of the C.J. himself came to light concerning threats to his life. He was granted asylum in the U.K. Things could not get worse yet there was no investigation and even the mighty and sometimes crooked Law Association members (LATT) were silenced. Most of these lawyers are completely devoid of ethics and many are knows to share their clients critical information with the opposing side for a fee or favour. It is a disgusting state of affairs.
The Police: This can be said to be the most dangerous tool in the arsenal. Their power is almost total and when properly run, the politician / oligarch can have you throw in jail without bail for months or years if they wanted you out if the way. This tool has been the weapon of choice by all the totalitarian states, past and present, from Hitler to Putin. Their abuse of power is well known throughout the length and breadth of T&T and the Small Man is becoming sick of the politicians’ lies and half truths about separation of power and independence of the police etc, etc., when the truth is the politicians can remove a police commissioner and change the rules of appointment in an instant as per Griffith. All the checks and balances are also under the control of the politician and his oligarch friends. The situation is totally sickening.
The Media Practitioners:
Their intention is to polarize everything, some with meaningless polls and daily opinions and bias news meant to play up certain stories and hide others on behalf of their paymasters, and like the other key areas including the judicial and police, some of their paymasters are not their media bosses, but the politicians or oligarchs. Their agenda is one that will cause the disintegration of the State like happens in totalitarian countries. Some examples are countries like Venezuela, Cuba, Syria, North Korea, Turkey, Russia and the list goes on and on. Interfering and control of the media is part of the politician’s / oligarchs playbook used to rip off the treasury and control what you think and how you vote. The playbook rules include the following:

Control of the media through ownership or by compromising the very practitioners that betray readers and listeners.

Use the police rules and regulations to prevent planned marches etc, except where it can help them shut down some ‘unauthorised’ criminal activity from affecting their business. Recently, one media company called an all-out-war on illegal quarrying because the media group owned many quarry operations. These oligarchs have no conscience or moral compass.

Use government offices to deprive you of the means of success if you are not part of the clique. For example, Customs, BIR, police and various government departments that you will need to get approvals to run your business.

Most recently, the elimination of people from accessing foreign exchange (forex) to run their affairs. All the while, the One Percent receives all they want to knock you out of business. The foreign used car market immediately comes to mind, while the ‘new’ car business gets a free unlimited pass with quotas and forex.

If all that fails, they will not hesitate to send in the goon squad to terrorise you or kill you.
Most notably all the big media outfits are owned and controlled by the oligarchs so it is easy to control what is being discussed in the public domain. Jack Warner’s Sunshine Newspaper and Amar’s radio seem to be exceptions. Otherwise, the one little way that the Small Man can get his oppression message out is to do it on social media. This effectiveness is somewhat limited.
