There’s an ongoing battle for ownership of the mega-million dollar newspaper, Newsday. The company launched by Daniel Chookolingo in 1993, is getting no media publicity because two years after its launch, the daily immediately became the fastest selling newspaper in Trinidad and Tobago outstripping the then 30-year old Trinidad Express and the mighty Guardian which was then over 75 years old. Both newspaper and their vast billion dollar media outfits have remained silent since the case was filed in the High Court in 2014.While Newsday’s up-to-date value remains shrouded, there was a valuation done a decade ago which put its worth at over $200 million dollars. Sources close to Mr Chookolingo says this is a bogus value which was given by the Steve Castagne controlled board to buy out minority shareholders to gain full control of his company.

TTJF can now tell the public that top attorneys operating in T&T who have all been reported to the police for theft of hundreds of millions of dollars have elicited the help of the PNM government and the courts to bury the evidence against the trio and others. The persons defrauded are members of the Chookolingo family and Newsday founder, Daniel Chookolingo. The main culprits are Deborah Peake SC, Michael Quamina SC and Michael Coppin. Also, in the line of fire is the international auditing firm of PKF and their main man in Trinidad, Mark Superville.
The matter was first reported to the police and other government agencies by Daniel Chookolingo in April 2024, and contained solid proof that these four (4) professionals committed gross violations of professional conduct and/ or fraud and /or illegal behavior in a first of its kind case in T&T.
The threats have gotten to such a point that Mr Chookolingo was told by investigators to keep a very low profile since the case is at a sensitive stage and it is not far-fetched that the culprits will resort to violence to make the reports disappear. They advised there could be a bloodbath because of the facts uncovered against Deborah Peake SC, Michael Quamina SC and Michael Coppin, all dirty PNM lawyers, is the tip of the iceberg and these people have been ripping off certain selected organisations with the help of the judges (see Aboud, Archie and Kangaloo) and the auditing fraternity (see PKF International). The police report is the only evidence that links Superville (PKF) and the 3 attorneys to massive fraud and with Chookolingo out of the way, the evidence will also disappear.
Mr Chookolingo has already reported bias against Justice Aboud for his discussions of the case with his family. He has also reported the C.J., Ivor Archie for misbehavior in public office and similarly for Justice Nadia Kangaloo, when she recently heard a case against him from persons with absolutely no authority (locus) to file a case.
At the time of the Newsday fraud which started in 2011 and continued to 2023 / 2024, various illegal activities were shown by Mr Chookolingo that implicated the directors, auditors and attorneys for the Chookolingo Company known as CHL which owned the major stake in Newsday.
A timeline of the fraud shows it started in 2011 by Michael Quamina SC who was the personal attorney for PM, Dr Rowley and made interventions to ensure the sale of assets which were unlawful. He was rewarded with the appointment to the State’s billion dollar Heritage Petroleum.
Deborah Peake who featured Michael Quamina along with Peake Michael Coppin
Predominately in police report Risk their professional reputation for PNM Filed fraudulent case
Deborah Peake SC presented herself as a heavy hitter for the elites and from 2012 was coopted as the main attorney for the PNM getting briefs on Clico, election petitions, Petrotrin and the fraudsters at Newsday who knew she was filing fraudulent affidavits in a court matter initiated by Daniel Chookolingo for the theft of shares. More recently, when her name was implicated in these very public schemes and rip offs on behalf of the PNM, the JLSC tried to save her with the appointment to the Chairman of the State of Emergency (SOE) Tribunal to investigate persons arrested under the SOE, a position equivalent to a judge.
The other attorney, Michael Coppin a junior attorney, had served as a PNM senator but never made any significant contribution to any debates. Coppin’s fraudulent role was to advise Chookolingo shareholders that the company was worth around 5 million dollars when in actuality it was valued at least 30 times that amount which does not account for the missing dividends from the company. Enough Chookolingo shareholders were paid off to go along with the bogus and fraudulent sale which was pushed through despite objections.
Mark Superville,
PKF Auditors
Mr Mark Superville, who appeared at the CHL AGM meetings as the PKF auditor, never once in 10 years presented a financial report but year-after-year continued to be fraudulently appointed as the returning auditor by those were received monies which were not dividends. Superville is a key part of the entire fraud and is a close friend of Newsday directors and illegally accommodated them since they desperately sought to buy the shares for $5 million.
Dawn Ford who hired Steve Castagne PNM
all the crooked professionals big shot who got assets
Dawn Ford, a member of the Chookolingo family and the person responsible for many of the fraudulent activities and conspiracies which were shown in the police report, presented fraudulent documents to shareholders to convince them that the company was almost worthless and sent some of them on overseas trips that lasted years. The Newsday assets were virtually given away to a big shot in the PNM, Steve Castagne.
10 months ago, Dawn Ford used the police report to file a legal action against her brother Daniel Chookolingo which was imbued with lies and fabrications to have him evicted from a property he lawfully occupied which is owned by their father, the late Patrick. Daniel is the sole Executor of the estate of his father. In other words, Dawn Ford and her same attorneys, who ripped of hundreds of millions from the company, fabricated evidence, falsified claims, committed fraud, is guilty of abuse of process and committed contempt of court and is a clear indication that Ford, the PNM and their attorneys expected to show how easy it is to manipulate the T&T Courts and specifically Justice Nadia Kangaloo, James Aboud and the C.J. Justice Nadia Kangaloo who is the sister-in-law of President Christine Kangaloo. It is not clear if Deborah Peake and Michael Quamina are still in the employ of Dawn Ford and if they are calling the shots to get back at Daniel Chookolingo for the police report, but Michael Coppin is still one of those crooked attorneys and he is on record as Ford’s attorney. Dawn Ford failed to inform the Court that Coppin was one of the persons involved in the rip off of assets. Will the Court of Appeal sanction Mr Coppin and the other law breakers for the theft and mischief and by filing the case against Mr Chookolingo?

And reported to the JLSC
Mr Chookolingo is awaiting a reply from the Court of Appeal to determine if the Appellate court will continue an unjust and unlawful war against him or if a further report to the JLSC is necessary to have some closure to this grievous matter.
In submissions filed in court, Chookolingo asked the Court why the 4 professionals have not filed defamation lawsuits against him. The answer is obvious as it is easier for them to have the courts delay the matter up for years to come so they can assist the PNM in more illegal activities.
