There’s an ongoing battle for ownership of the mega-million dollar newspaper, Newsday. The company launched by Daniel Chookolingo in 1993, is getting no media publicity because two years after its launch, the daily immediately became the fastest selling newspaper in Trinidad and Tobago outstripping the then 30-year old Trinidad Express and the mighty Guardian which was then over 75 years old. Both newspaper and their vast billion dollar media outfits have remained silent since the case was filed in the High Court in 2014.While Newsday’s up-to-date value remains shrouded, there was a valuation done a decade ago which put its worth at over $200 million dollars. Sources close to Mr Chookolingo says this is a bogus value which was given by the Steve Castagne controlled board to buy out minority shareholders to gain full control of his company.

What a week it has been in T&T! It was the historic removal of the PNM, which was like an Albatross removed from our necks, choking us to death.
The fall from public office of the PNM Administration and those associated with the most evil and obnoxious government ever is glaring to those who have an open and inquisitive mind to see this truth for themselves, unlike the sycophants. From the very start their rise to power was based on illegal and crooked documents fashioned in a dark room, organized by the PNM and their 1% friends whose mission was to rip off the treasury and the various state enterprises, which independently had billions of dollars in contracts annually to give away to friends and family of the PNM chosen few. That document became known as Emailgate which has since been dismissed by local and international authorities but not the evil PNM who to this day maintains that while the emails themselves were not legit the contents were valid, an ‘explanation’ that could only come from the conspirators themselves. Such unmitigated trash! The PNM has remained in office for 10 years based on a known lie made by Dr Rowley.
During these 10 years they misspent and stole from the national budgeted figures of 600 billion plus an estimated 100 billion from various state enterprises, so that is close to a trillion dollars. Yes, state enterprises give out billions in contracts annually which are not included in the parliament’s annual budgets and most are exempt from the procurement legislation which was amended by the said PNM giving them unfettered access to these funds as was done with legal briefs of well over a billion dollars. The stakes were so humongous that many accomplished professionals were prepared to go to jail to share in it.
Dr Rowley’s authoritarian, high-handed and brash way of operation was deliberate to send a message to all objectors not to mess with him or his elite rip-off squad, who were given a free hand to take control of the country’s institutions by the appointment of Colm Imbert in finance and other appointments to state boards and commissions. Even the appointment of the nation’s President Mrs Kangaloo, a well-known PNM operative, was done so she can ostensibly appoint her 9 ‘independent’ senators who will prevent the progressive agenda of the UNC including the much needed Constitutional amendments which will need a 2/3 support from the Senate. This was premeditated!
TTJF has published a lot of verifiable facts before, which exposed several key persons who facilitated the PNM in their conspiracies, including Deborah Peake SC, Michael Quamina SC, and Michael Coppin, international auditor PKF (Pannel, Kerr, Foster) and company directors attached to some large corporations in T&T. Clico, Petrotrin and the Daily Newsday newspaper are just 3 of them well known to us. While Clico and Petrotrin were controlled directly by the PNM executive via appointments to their boards, Newsday also fell under their control as the crooked PNM attorneys and auditors illegally conspired to install directors in order to sell and/ or seize assets worth hundreds of millions of dollars, the main beneficiary is one Steve Castagne, a strongman in the PNM. These are well documented and are contained in police reports and court documents. The latest on that is the Court of Appeal has refused to hear an appeal of bias and unwarranted Orders made by High Court Judge, Justice Kangaloo, by refusing to hear the appeal in the 28 day stipulated deadline according to the laws governing appeals. The appeal will expose the illegal manipulation by the auditing fraternity (with the help of crooked attorneys), to produce bogus audited reports which are used locally and internationally by companies to secure loans, guarantees and ratings. This is the first time that fraudulent proof of this magnitude was ever made public. So, yes, the judiciary which is the final safeguard of the public interest has now been confirmed to be compromised and shown where their loyalties lie and this warrants a clean out from the top.
Kamla Persad Bissessar (KPB) knew fully the PNM’s modus operandi as the UNC manifesto promised to deal decisively with spying which was facilitated by the use of the world famous Israeli spyware known as Pegasus which was recently upgraded and enhanced with the latest Artificial Intelligence (AI) features including voice recognition. Pegasus is only sold to governments around the world to spy on criminals but it ended up in the hand of the PNM criminals. And we know KPB is aware of the spying because days before the 2025 election the UNC published a list of what they intend to urgently deal with as soon as they get into office, which included the spying used by the PNM government. KPB had previously raised this spying issue in parliament about 2 years ago causing Dr Rowley to admit to the purchase of an OEM version of Pegasus. He refused to say why the laws governing its use were not being adhered to. The initial laws governing spying was passed by the last KBP government and gutted by the PNM just as they did with the procurement legislation. His reply to KPB was reminiscent of his trademark bullying behavior.
KPB, the intelligent person that she has shown herself to be, must now remove any remaining spies in the party like the last 5 dissidents.
